How did the world get here? How did man get here? Why am I here? What does the Bible tell us? Why is the world the way it is? Where is the world heading? These are questions you may have had from time to time. May be you have other questions which you would like answers for. Over a period of 10 Sundays we will look at what the Bible has to say to these questions and more. Today we look at Genesis 1 and 2. Known as the creation chapters they tell us how the world came to be and where man came from. The Bible commences with a Creator God who though His power and authority brought the world into being. Over a period of six days God brought creation and the world into being. God spoke and stars hung in space. God spoke and dry land existed. God spoke and birds were flying. God spoke and man came into existence. We owe our very breath to God. We also see that God gave man a purpose in life. He was to subdue the earth and be a steward of it. He was to work the garden in which God had placed him and given him all kinds of things to enjoy. God saw that loneliness would be a problem, and so He gave Adam a helper for all the tasks God had given him to do. And so the institution of marriage came into being. However Genesis 1 and 2 leave us with challenges. What does it mean to be a good steward of the world God gave us to live in? What does marriage mean for us living in God’s world? How should we respond to the Creator God?
