Why is it that so many in our community display a ho hum attitude toward the Christmas story? The greatest gift ever given, Jesus Christ and yet for many as they prepare for Christmas holidays and whatever else, they care more about Christmas than they do about Christ. The good news story was given to some shepherds and they responded. The good news story was given to some angels and they responded. The good news story was given to Joseph and Mary and they responded. The good news is given to you, how have you responded? Perhaps we don’t appreciate the good news of Jesus Christ because we have not appreciated or understood what the bad news is all about. The bad news is bad. It is more than bad, it is shocking. The bad news is that each of us have gone astray and turned to our own way. The bad news is that each of us are on a one way trip to separation from God which the Bible describes as hell. The good news is exceedingly good. The angel describes it as good news of great joy - exceeding joy. Why is it great joy? The long awaited Saviour has finally come. The long promised Christ has finally arrived. The one who will save us from our sins. Have you looked into the good news? Do you understand and appreciate how joyous the good news is against the backdrop of the bad news? How have you responded to such joyous news?
