At some stage we will come across a street preacher – the fire and brimstone type one. It could be outside a railway station. It could be outside a supermarket. It could be outside a shopping precinct.

The messages they bring can vary. “Repent, the end of the world is nigh.” They hold up signs to try and attract attention. Some wear sandwich boards.

Jonah, once he accepted God’s call upon his life, did a stint of street preaching. To his amazement the people including the king of Nineveh, accepted the message. They acted upon the message. They repented. They turned from their wicked and evil ways.

Jonah’s message was simple. Unless you change, you will face destruction. The put on sackcloth and dust. Such action symbolised mourning over their sins. They sacrificed.

If you were to street preach, what message would you proclaim?
