Rev. Peter Greiner

Sun 9 Oct

It is the middle of the trade period for the AFL. A period where League Clubs set out to recruit players to fill certain playing positions. Recruitment is done largely based on skills and the finances needed.

This morning we look at Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. The sermon begins not with the beatitudes but in the previous chapter where Jesus begins to call his disciples to come and follow Him. You might want to think about when Jesus stepped into your life and called you to come and follow him.

Jesus showed them what ministries they may be involved in. It could be teaching. It could be restoring someone to full health.

There was then one thing that a follower of Jesus was required to be. It was the character traits found in the beatitudes. “Blessed!” “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Are we poor in spirit? Have we room for God in our life? Do we allow God to fill the places where we are poor in spirit?
